ICSE Curriculum

The ICSE Curriculum

For the child who asks ‘why’ – and deserves a curriculum that answers.

ICSE, from the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), is India’s most comprehensive school curriculum – known for its depth, its analytical rigour and its exceptional command of English. It teaches children to build a complete argument and express it with accuracy.

At Jain Heritage School, Electronic City, ICSE is offered alongside CBSE on one campus. The syllabus is CISCE’s; the teaching is ours – Finnish-inspired, hands-on and unhurried. Literature is performed as well as read, history is debated, and science is done with the hands before it is written with the pen.

Why ICSE

What the ICSE curriculum delivers

Language & literature rich

English is treated as a core capability. ICSE’s emphasis on literature, composition and expression develops articulate communicators ready for any professional setting.

Analytical depth in every subject

Detailed, application-driven study of the sciences, humanities and mathematics – where children explain their reasoning as well as their answers.

A broad, balanced worldview

History, geography, the arts and languages are given the same seriousness as the sciences, so children graduate with genuine breadth.

An internal-assessment culture

Continuous project work and internal assessment reward consistency, research skills and independent thinking throughout the year.

A global springboard

ICSE’s English-rich, in-depth preparation is widely regarded as a natural bridge to international curricula and universities around the world.

Taught the Finnish way

Experiential, enquiry-led and project-based lessons, with technology in support of thinking – and reflection on values, relationships and responsibility built into the week.

What your child studies, and when

Is ICSE the right fit?

Ideal for families who value…

Deep conceptual mastery

A syllabus that asks a child to explain the reasoning, not only produce the result.

Exceptional English and communication

Literature, composition and expression treated as a core capability from the earliest grades.

Breadth across humanities and sciences

History, geography, the arts and languages taken as seriously as the sciences.

A globally-oriented foundation

Preparation widely regarded as a natural bridge to international curricula and universities.

Two boards, one campus

Siblings on different boards share the same campus, house colours and sports teams – and our counsellors help you choose on fit, not geography.

The same standard on both tracks

Identical infrastructure, equally expert JGI-trained faculty and a 1:15 staff–student ratio, whichever board your child follows.

ICSE, answered

What parents ask about the board

Is ICSE recognised outside India?

Yes. ICSE and ISC certificates are widely recognised by universities and institutions abroad, helped by the board’s emphasis on English and continuous assessment.

Is ICSE harder than CBSE?

It is broader rather than harder – more subjects, more internal assessment and a stronger English component. Whether that suits your child is the better question, and one we are happy to explore with you on a visit.

Can we switch between boards, or transfer in?

On our dual-board campus that conversation happens with us, not a new admissions office. It is easier in the early grades, as the syllabi diverge by middle school, so raise it early and we will give you a clear answer for your child’s grade. Transfers from other ICSE schools are handled case by case.

Excellence that empowers young minds

CBSE rigour at three campuses across Bangalore, with Finnish depth at Whitefield and Electronic City.
